
BodyART™ - Muscular Approach
For nearly 13 years the BodyART™ School has been engaged with analyses of the anatomical and physiological structures of the human body while moving or holding a position. BodyART™ has been growing from the aggregation of various exercise therapies, movement patterns and the DO IN (a Japanese holistic theory). Right from the start the approach of BodyART™ is to recognize and alternate the human body from its structure - physically and also spiritually.
Robert Steinbacher: Before BodyART™ has been emerging, I was torn in between exercise therapy and physical fitness. I wanted to create something that unites many types of training and therapy in one training session. I questioned myself:
Is it possible to create an area of tension, to change a muscles length, therefore to build up muscles?
Is it possible to stretch the whole body, to burn fat, to relax and to change posture habits in one training session?
At the same time, teaching breathing methods, building up the inner strength and on top training functional and preventing physical posture frailties?
For now it seemed to be something insurmountable - Fatburning and Stretching? Musclebuilding and Meditation? But I couldn't stop thinking that there must be a solution. I was looking for an option and a concept to melt many things together.
Observing and studying several exercise theories and positions, researching fareastern relaxation techniques, the knowledge of the human body and mind, the foundation of breathing and the physical body and at last the classical physio therapy started a wave.
The BodyART™ TRAINING was born.

The Learning and collecting of many fundamental exercises, positions and techniques have helped me to understand the body as a unit of physical body and mind and to filter things. It has been fascinating to observe exercise procedures and positions from a matter-of-fact muscular point of view. A volume of knowledge - years of work and research and many unbelievable gifted people make BodyART™ THE fundamental training theory.
THE HUMAN BEING AS A UNIT OF BODY AND MIND
In BodyART™ TRAINING we match the human body with a temple. The columns are the fundament of the body, the bones, ligaments and sinews hold the temple stable and in function. Die Säulen sind das Fundament des Körpers, die Knochen, die Bänder und die Sehnen halten den Tempel stabil und in Funktion.
The walls build the protection of the columns and symbolize the muscles and organs in their functionality. The roof of the temple gives protection and stays for the brain, the thinking and observation.
Let us anticipate the roof would collapse, that would make the walls crumble and sometime the columns would fall too. Transferring this to the body, it would mean: Is the mind and the soul (roof) instable the posture (walls) crumbles and in the end the whole movement apparatus (columns) is affected. See an unhappy person with depressions moving crouched through the world. Or the other way around: Are the columns (bones and posture) instable, will the walls (muscles weak and tired) crumble and the roof (the person's intellect will slow down or be sick) will collapse.
BodyART™ ITS FUNCTION
Think of a baby a few weeks/months old. The Baby will take its toe into the mouth, the feet behind the head and the legs in any direction. The hips are open. It is alert, vital and active. Every human has been this way at birth. Except it has a genetic posture dysfunction. Each muscle and each joint is in its original form functional. The human being is already being formed in his mind. Growing up the childhood comes. A behaviour pattern is going to set in - mentally and physically.
How is the child raised? There is a physical difference between a child taking ballet lessons, participating in gymnastics, climbing trees and children who spend their time playing computer games or eat.
That is going to shape its whole life - spiritually and physically.
Next adolescence begins. The controversy with oneself, the environment, the sexuality and also with the education of the locomotion is fundamental now.
Then growing up: What job to train for? Will we take responsibility for ourselves? Are we in a sitting position all day? Are we participating in unilateral activity? Or is our vitality cut down by the job? How did we process our childhood? Did we give up on parts of our personality or is something fighting in us? Are we already suffering? Or, are we training junkies? Are we confident or followers?
Nobody will pretend these subjects will not affect body, mind and posture.
Growing older. Some people are wiser because they can look back on a wealth of experience. But many people suffer because they have lost themselves or they still search themselves.
The body and its function are slower and they are limited functionally.
Now the question is:
Will I capitulate or keep myself young? How do I feel and who I am? What am I entitled to and how do I feel with my body?
Each of this episodes starting with childhood is an approach of BodyART™ TRAINING
Many posture weaknesses and emotional sufferings will manifest in the inner and outer human posture (exceptions are genetic or by accident accused sufferings). As a baby the human being is fully functional and vital. Through education of movement / Life's education the human body adopts physical and spiritual bad posture. At some point in life - for some earlier, for some later - these learned habits appear. That is when people come to the area of responsibility and strength.
Either the person gives up on moving - he is too tired: no time, no passion, this hurts, that hurts, my doctor says I have to come see him immediately. This person will stay there and no development will be possible. Nobody can help this person, because others will not fix this or THE HUMAN UNDERSTANDS THAT HE IS A UNIT with his body. The human being has to understand the fundamental law of cause and effect.
"If you are at the wrong point, you can go to the right place.“ If you start to discover your body, your body will change. You can start in your activity and at your place, to do things in a specific way that will lead you to success.
If spiritual and physical bad postures are manifested and automated in a person, you have to repeat stated functional movement patterns again and again to break open old habits.
This is BodyART™ TRAINING.
If you have weak muscles, you have to train with many repetitions not only this muscle but various muscles and the coherences until the whole body learns to function again.
