BodyART™ - Energetic Approach
BodyART™ TRAINING is the guide of modern times. Nobody would have thought that the creation of BodyART™ Training would take on such complexity and would develop so fundamental.
Robert Steinbacher established the concept in 1994. Alexa Lé completed the concept in Switzerland by 1998.
In the beginning 90-ties Robert Steinbacher has been performing exercising therapy with handicapped children and in contrast worked as a trainer and dancer with mentally healthy people. Robert Steinbacher has been gathering experiences in both worlds, the world of mentally retarded and the world of mentally healthy people.
Through this work and these experiences the BodyART™ Training and its philosophy has been growing. This is the fundament of BodyART™ Training.
Robert Steinbacher:
Working with mentally retarded and healthy human beings (children) I could perceive the following:
"Besides their physical and mental development all human beings strive for expression of their potential." Often a mentally retarded person is not able to take full responsibility for their daily tasks.
The mentally retarded human depends on fixed rituals, patterns and time schedules to comply with and experience themselves. Often retarded humans/children are deeply content and happy. Like all other, they seek development and love. A handicapped person also wants to be perceived and has a right to receive physical closeness and understands attachment/love.
"The meaning of life is constant progress and realization - all living things, have a indefeasible right to develop as far as possible."
As a trainer working in fitness studios I was torn in between and asked myself as a pedagogue what we were doing to our participants besides having fun. I realized that this kind of training, besides having fun while moving, would never changed the body structure and to be honest, how many participants would experience physical progress with the little pink dumb bells ? Hardly anyone!
I admittedly had fun but one thing had become a deep burden on me:
The gap between handicapped people longing to move and being functionally constrained by their body as far as atrophy and in contrast the missing responsibility of so-called healthy people who have lost consciousness of the functionality of their body or have given the responsibility to the trainer.
„I don't like this … I'm not doing this …“, the wrist is been shaken, the eyes are rolled, „that is too strenuous … I feel too hot …“ the air is not right, „I don't feel like it today … I'm too old …“.
In contrast, the children and handicapped are thankful for a little ray of hope, which they "thank god" usually are not realising. While the healthy human owns capabilities, they often repudiate in the very beginning. These children would have a ball if they could just run around once.
I remember the expression of children in a wheelchair, who have great fun hearing the fun screams of children playing even when they are not able to participate in the play … that is brutal…
I asked myself: what is the position of the healthy person and what do I really want?
where to? why? what is he longing for when he lost his body conscious? why did he lose his body conscious?
Should I give away the secret what people are longing for?
There are two things as elementary as nutrition: This is the urge to move and the freedom to live it up.
One thing is clear cut, a mentally healthy person is depending solely on himself. A mentally healthy person has the privilege and gift to command all his senses, to unfold freely and to develop more and more - PHYSICALLY AND SPIRITUALLY.
Through society, economy, automation and last but not least by oneself, many people lose the feeling to experience themselves. People in quest of themselves.
What is my ability - what do I really want, what do I feel and what do I believe in.
The human being has above all forgotten to take responsibility for himself and is moving more and more away from his center - from himself. Some people have never learnt to take responsibility for themselves. Many people are discontent, sad and have no self-confidence and esteem. Many people are discontent with what they have achieved and who they are, but
Each person has the right to reach for what he WANTS, to receive what he WANTS, and to do what he WANTS - YOU too in all areas of life.
Nobody else is in the least able to take responsibility for your own body. No insurance, no trainer, no physiotherapist, no doctor and no other person. That is why any human being is responsible for his body.
BodyART™ TRAINING: What a person does or feel, is always what a person thinks and what a person thinks, is what he is or does.
Many people complain about themselves f.e. "I'm too old." - Means I'm old and I will never be able to feel fit and young.
„My wrist hurts“ - meaning the person tries to not use this joint - Consequence: the wrist will hurt more and get immobile.
„Help, this is strenuous" - Means you stay weak and have no energy.
BodyART™ Training in the first means to accept and internalize:
o You, and only you are responsible for your body.
o If you want to change things, nobody else will do it for you.
o You are the only person who can change something in your body - if you want it.
BodyART™ TRAINING was born with this philosophy - a training concept that any person is able to participate in and that demands the whole person - the unit of SPIRIT AND BODY (see: BodyART™ Muscular Approach).
The Training of BodyART™ uses only the own body and the own mind - conscious and unconscious.
The Training with the own body channels the whole conscious to the own center. The training of the conscious chances the trainee mentally and spiritually.
o BodyART™ has the focus on the human being as a unit of BODY, MIND and SOUL.
o none of the THREE is stronger, weaker or better than the other, all are of the same relevance and as desirable
o neither BODY nor MIND nor SOUL are able to develop to its fullest and live if one of them is cut of in its expression.
Naturally, it needs power to not give up during the physical effort of BodyART™ TRAINING and to centre focus on breathing.
Acquiring this talent, you develop a master conscious (similar to Tai Chi, martial arts or yoga). It gets easier after some training sessions when the progress is physically and mentally recognizable.
In the beginning it helps to know the effects of BodyART™ Training (similar to rehab training - you know it is for your health).
With BodyART™ TRAINING I change personally, physically and mentally.
We have accompanied many Trainees and BodyART™ Instructors for years. We were able to monitor how they have changed and grown through BodyART™ Training.
The human being always wants to grow and BodyART™ Training brightens the conscious and accelerates the body conscious.
The awareness of the own body will deepen and grow. Hereby the BodyART™ Trainee/Instructor gains the urge for more experience and knowledge.
In life you are always subject to the urge to know more, to do more and to be more.
From that symbiosis of body and mind the BodyART™ concept grows constantly.
There are so many instructors with gigantic knowledge. It is a honour for our BodyART School to work worldwide with them to extend the knowledge spectrum and the training concept of BodyART™.
The performance of every physical function is a part of life, and no one lives completely who denies the impulses of the body a normal and healthful expression.
